Portobelis

CAR HIRE INFORMATION:

A valid full driving licence is obligatory for car hire and must be presented. The driver(s) must be 23 years old and have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months.

If you have arranged to pick up your hire car either at an airport or port, our driver will be waiting for you, holding a "Portobelis Crete" sign. If you are arriving at an airport, the driver will be waiting for you as you come out of the arrivals' hall. At a port, you will see our driver as you get off the boat.

Our driver will put necessary details onto the contract, which should then be read and signed by you. Please see below for full details of insurance. One additional driver can be added, free of charge. Our driver will give you a copy of the signed contract, which must be shown by you in case of any police control. You will also be given a map of Crete and our driver will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. Detailed driving instructions from your arrival point to your end destination can be e-mailed to you on request. Area plans can be found at the point "map" on our Website Portobelis-crete.gr.

If you are departing from Heraklion Airport, please return your car to the big council car park, opposite the airport building. Lock all doors and leave the key with the attendant at the car park office, situated in the middle of the main entrance to the car park. Portobelis Crete will pay the parking fee. If departing from Heraklion Port, Chania/Sitia airport/port, you will be given full instructions regarding the return of your car when the car is delivered to you on your arrival. Please ensure you leave the gas tank at the same level as when the car was delivered to you. You are responsible for any fines incurred for parking/traffic offences!

If you experience any problems at all with your car, please contact us first (0030 2843022370-23830. If our office is closed, please leave a message on the answer machine, with your position and contact telephone number. You will be asked your exact position and a mechanic will be sent to assist you as soon as possible.

Car Hire rates are in Euros and include:

1) Unlimited Mileage
2) Full insurance (C.D.W.) with excess!
3) Service and tax 23%
4) Breakdown Recovery Service
5) Free delivery/collection to and from the airport/harbour.

FULL INSURANCE: COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (C.D.W.) :The Customer is fully relived from the responsibility for damage to the vehicle if he accepts the relevant conditions by singing the contract. Full insurance covers fire and theft, the driver and passengers and all damage to the vehicle rented and the vehicles involved.

Full insurance does not cover the first €650 for categories A/,B/, €750 for categories C/,D/AU/, €850 for categories E/,EA/ and €950 for categories F/, FA.

All damage caused to the underside of the car, the wheels and the tyres are not covered by any insurance.

The Customer is responsible for all damage to the car if he insists on driving with a flat tyre or with the overheat indicator on.

The Customer must comply with the traffic law and any other regulations in force and is not covered by any insurance if driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Customer must have held a driving licence for one full year and be at least 23 years of age otherwise they are not covered by the insurance. There is no maximum age commitment, providing the driver has a full, valid driving licence.

The Customer is liable for all parking and traffic offences.

The vehicle is not to be driven or operated by any person other than the Customer unless such a person has been previously designated and authorized by the Lessor in the space provided and all additional and authorized drivers are liable together with the Customer under the contractual agreement. On each contact there can be a maximum of two drivers.

REFUNDS

No refunds will be paid for unused hotel accommodation, meals, tours, cruises, transfers and car rental unless mutual agreement is made between the customer and Portobelis.

CANCELLING YOUR HOLIDAY

If you or anyone on your holiday booking decides to cancel the holiday you must notify us of the decision as soon as possible. Any notification by telephone must also be confirmed in writing or by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. within 24-hours by the person who made the original booking. Cancellation will take effect from the day we are notified provided that written confirmation is received by us within 24-hours of the original notification.

The following scale of charges will be payable depending on when the notification of cancellation is received:

  • Prior to 45 days: deposit forfeited
  • 45 – 25: 30% of total holiday cost
  • 25 – 07: 60% of total holiday cost
  • 07 – 03 : 90% of total holiday cost
  • Less than 3 days: 100% of total holiday cost

We would strongly recommend that you take out full insurance, which generally includes cover, under certain circumstances, against loss of deposit or cancellation fees.
